Tri-ethylene glycol (TEG) is a colorless, odorless, non-volatile, and hygroscopic liquid. It is produced as a co-product during the hydration of ethylene oxide, alongside mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) and di-ethylene glycol (DEG). TEG is widely used as a vinyl plasticizer, solvent, intermediate in polyester resins and polyols, and in natural gas dehydration due to its hygroscopic properties. It also finds niche applications in air conditioning systems as a dehumidifier and as an air disinfectant when volatilized.
